5 months old!

Van turned 5 months old on my dad's birthday! Happy Birthday dad! Love you!

Van is growing up!
He know loves peas, green beans, squash, and sweet potatoes mixed into his rice cereal.
So far he has cried each time I gave him carrots.
He can do the mini-push up!
He can roll over to his belly!!! So much fun!
He loves to babble on and on and on.
He loves music and loves when you sing to him...I might turn up the radio loud when he is crying in the car, then I sing obnoxiously along and he goes to sleep.
He still sleeps in mommy's arms at night (BAD MOMMY!) but she loves cuddling :)
He is getting taller and bigger so very few of his clothes fit.
He has perfected the whine...O NO
He is really at the stage where he wants to go places and he can't, one of the reasons he cries.
 Cute, rather big feet.
Trying to feed himself.

 What up?

Push up!

Peas Please!

Van enjoys eating peas. So much so that every time he ate a bite he had to accompany the peas with his hand. I am glad he likes his veggies!
He is getting so much better at sitting up! My baby isn't a newborn anymore!

4 months old!

Van is 4 months old and enjoying his very first Easter.

He LOVES to laugh!
He can hold his bottle all by himself (unless he does not want to).
He wants to go places but he can't, so he tries to leap out of our arms.
He ate rice cereal for the first time.
He loves Jazz games with his Daddy!
He is getting used to tummy time.
He loves his hands and feet.
He likes his cousin Tracen's number and walker, he gets really excited.
He loves hanging out with his Aunt Timber, Uncle Angel and Cousin Tracen.
He loves his Mommy and Daddy! He is starting to get a little separation anxiety.
His favorite toy are plastic rings that he can hold and chew on.

Van was falling asleep in this photo :).
Tummy time and his favorite toy!

Easter duck from Grandma Marcie!
Look Ma! I can use my hands!
Playing at the park...I chose this one because Van is always cute and his mom looked dumb in all the others!
Watching basketball with daddy!

Reading :)
Being a cool bunny with Tracen's shades.
I just love these pictures!

Zoning out eating cereal.

3 months old!

Van is 3 months old!

He laughed for the first time!
He grabbed at a toy and was almost sincerely interested in a book (he mostly wanted to eat it)
He is getting a little chubby but only in his face.
We think he is double jointed, his arms make us nervous.
He pushes his weight up, what a strong little man!
I took these pictures a couple of weeks ago, trying to get him in his blessing outfit.
He was not happy until I took the outfit off.
Then he was a happy little stink.

Lately, he has been rocking out.

He takes relaxing to the next level.

This is what my son looks like when dad babysits. I received text messages from Rod that said things like "He hates me" and "When are you coming to save me" and then finally "He finally stopped and went to sleep."
When I came home Rod was asleep on the couch and I woke him to ask why Van was down to a diaper and Rod's basketball shorts were a blanket. He said "He was mad", so my husband took his clothes off and the shorts were the closest thing he could reach.
I feel validated as a mother. Van is a mama's boy. Rod does a great job with him but he misses his mommy :). That makes me happy.

Little Boy!

Van used to be so little...in fact he is still little but it is so weird to me to look back at pictures and see how tiny he was. Here he is at a month old. He was so tiny in his bed!
This photo reminds me of ET.
Here is my beautiful boy nowadays. He has so much more personality while awake but there really is something about a sleeping baby that is so heart-melting you have to take a picture.
I love his pouty lips!

Two Months Old!

The "babies" all taking a nap.
Tummy time

Thumbsucker!

Hey look Mom, I got a crayola bandaid!

Van is getting bigger!
We had his Baby blessing on Feb 5th, 2012. His daddy did a wonderful job and Van wore Rod's cute blessing tux. If you can believe how horrible I am, I didn't take any pictures. I am setting up a photoshoot so I can get some family photos and reenact Van's cuteness. All of our family came to town and stayed at our home. We had an incredible time. I miss everyone so much, it makes me a sad that they could not stay longer! Thank you to everyone who showed their support!

Van!
He weighs 10lbs 9oz.
He is 24 inches long.
He is tall and skinny like his dad.
He coos more and more and he has the cutest scrunched up smile!
He still snorts when he is mad.
He has a healthy appetite and takes a bottle like a champ.
He is holding his head up a lot better, still need to be really careful because he is a bobble head.
He has discovered his hands and loves to suck on them.
His favorite place is my shoulder. If he is upset that will calm him down.
He loves his cousin Tracen he loves to smile at him. I can't wait until they have conversations only they can understand.
He survived his first shots and his first little cold (which I brought home from work mom is so mean!).

One Month

Van turned one month old!
According to the doctor he weighs 7lbs 12 oz and is almost 22 inches!
What a tiny little squirt! I think all that has grown is his hands and feet!
He eats most of the time and when he is not eating he is crying.
He likes his chin to be tickled.
Rod and I love the moments when he is awake and quiet.
He is very aware and watches you and tracks your voice.
He is starting to make sweet cooing noises...when he feels like being nice.
His eyes are still the pale gray blue. We think they will be hazel like his Daddy.
He is spoiled rotten!
He will sleep for quite a few hours at a time but only if he is sleeping across my chest. That will have to change at some point, but it is so hard when he so hopelessly adorable, even while crying.
We love him to pieces.

It Takes Two, Make Three

Our son Van William Peterson was born December 7th, 2011 at 11:15 pm. He was 7lbs 5 oz and is incredibly beautiful!

Labor isn't very easy. I figured it wouldn't be but it is a completely different story when the process starts and you think to yourself, "Self, let's do this tomorrow, when I expect it, and maybe then I will be ready." But of course when he wants to come he will, and I just had to tell myself that eventually it would end.
I was doing pretty well during the first hours. I didn't want to go to the hospital in case it was a false alarm and so I waited.
When we went into the hospital the nurses all looked at me like I was an idiot because it is my first baby. They took their sweet, precious time setting me up and the nurse was surprised to see that my contractions, indeed were consistent and I was dilated to a 3.
They put me in a room right across from the nurses station, which posed a problem when I did start getting noisier and they started to come in and tell e to get an epidural.
I wimped out and got the epidural and some how within 20 minutes of having it I was dilated to a 9...I feel as though I was misled-since only an hour before I was told I was a 5...I will have other children so I will try natural again. At least I told myself I was going to wing it, I never did make a decision one way or there other. But I will admit I feel a little disappointed in myself. At the same time, the epidural was absolutely lovely and I enjoyed having my son.
He is gorgeous!!
Rod feels a little ripped off considering Van looks exactly like me. He does have Rod's hands and feet though!

I am going to love being a mom. I never knew I was capable of loving someone so much. He is now the most precious piece of my life. I hope and pray that I will be able to always convey that to him-and more importantly that he will understand. When he doesn't, I hope that I can teach him that his Heavenly Father loves him even more, so he never feels alone or unloved.

It strengthens my testimony of a Father in Heaven. I know that He lives and loves me. I also know that He can forgive all things and that He hears all of my prayers. I have a greater knowledge because I know that I want to be able forgive my son of his mistakes and teach him a better way and I always want to hear all he has to say. I never want to miss a moment and since I know that my Heavenly Father is eternal and loving He never does miss a moment of our lives.
